SOS! Snack ideas for a slimming emergency
SOS! Save Our Slimming!
We know that sometimes, no matter what you do, you will just feel like you want to eat everything in sight. (We’ve all been there!)
So to help you prepare for those moments when nothing else will do – and drinking water, going for a walk and other distractions just aren’t working - we’ve put together a special snacking guide, to help with damage limitation.
Like any emergency, our top tip is to be prepared! Don’t wait, get stocked up now so you’re all ready when one of those moments hits.
Prepare
1 – Create a slimming ‘Emergency Cupboard’ or keep some things in a tin hidden away for when you need them
2 – Remember your freezer can be a place to store some pre-prepared emergency goodies
If you’re going to blow your Bite count, it doesn’t have to mean the end of the world for your slimming. Before you raid the cupboards for crisps, chocolate bars and biscuits, which will only satisfy you for a minute, or worse still reach for that takeaway menu, check out these quick and easy snack ideas.
The best foods to help keep you on track are those that are low GI, which means they breakdown slowly. Slimavite Shakes are low GI, which is why they help keep you feeling fuller for longer and can keep hunger pangs at bay.
Other low gi foods to get munching on include...
• Oats
• Pasta
• Beans & legumes
• Milk and plain yoghurt
• Vegetables
• Fruit
• Pita bread
• All bran flakes
For the fridge
Try chopped peppers, carrot sticks and celery
If you need a cheesy hit and nothing else will do then grab an Extra Light Laughing Cow triangle or some Quark to spread on a cracker
Cherry tomatoes
Melon
Muller Light fat free yoghurts
For the cupboard
Raisins and other dried fruit
Ryvita, cracker bread or rice cakes
Packet of snack-a-jacks
Meringue nests for some emergency sweetness
Weetabix or Readybrek
For something more substantial
Eggs are brilliant - try a simple three egg omelette and mix in herbs and spices
Baked beans are also brilliant – try them with a jacket potato (forget the butter!)
Boil up some pasta and stir in a tin of mixed beans in tomato sauce
And remember to keep drinking lots of water. The binge will pass and as long as you keep up with your weight loss plans, your weight will go down in the long run.
